This tour offers a variety of views of the castles and manor houses of Polminhac: châteaux de Clavières, de Vixouze and, of course, Pesteils. It's a great way to enjoy our heritage while walking the trails!
Start from the school parking lot, Place du Campanier.
Head towards the railroad line along the main road. Cross the road, then take the footpath along the stream. At the end of this path, past the soccer pitch and after crossing the bridge over the Cère, continue to take a right onto the road.
At the bend, take the road to the right, which soon becomes a path (at Lac des Gravières); the path climbs up to the main road; turn right on the road to reach Marfons.
The path passes by a fish farm and climbs up to join a wide farm track on a flat area. Turn left uphill, then right (intersection with the "Balade de Vixouze", marked in blue).
The track continues until you reach a chicane on your left: a fine view of the Monts du Cantal.
Once past the chicane, the trail passes between meadows and then along a wooded section to reach the hamlet of Vixouze.
Pass by the Château de Vixouze (beware, this is a private residence!). The path descends to a place called "La Gentie"; turn right onto a path that descends into the undergrowth and joins the departmental road, which you must follow to return to the starting point.Marking : Marked in yellowEquipments : Car park, Admission fee : Free access.Opening : All year round daily.
