Start from the hamlet of Lasmolineries, near the old mill.
The path starts to the right of the stream, climbing up through meadows; at the fork, follow left and keep going until you reach a barn on the edge of the woods.
At the barn, climb to the left and continue through the beech forest before descending along the rock face.
At the stream, cross the wooden bridge and turn right up the narrow path that leads to the foot of the waterfall, in the scree of volcanic rock. Return to the bridge and follow the path to the right to reach the road.
At the fork, go down the road. At the first crossroads, take the path on the right that overlooks and descends towards the hamlet. Cross the road and enter Lasmolineries. At the oven, turn right to reach the parking lot.

A family hike to discover one of Cantal's most beautiful waterfalls. At an altitude of 1020m, its forty-meter drop makes the Cascade de Faillitoux one of the most spectacular natural and geological sites in the Carladès region. It flows along a large basaltic lava flow that rests directly on the base of the stratovolcano, whose prisms of basaltic organs make it a curiosity.
The itinerary, which is not very long or steep, alternates between meadows where you can meet herds of Salers cows, the emblematic Cantal breed (dogs are not recommended), and beech forests with their magnificent autumn colors, from which it's not unusual to hear the bellowing of the stag.
Precautions: the path can be very wet in places; before reaching the waterfall, there's a steep descent through undergrowth.
